How can I withdraw money from my Popular Direct savings account?

There are multiple ways to withdraw money from your Popular Direct savings account Disclosure :
  • Complete an online transfer from an eligible Popular Direct account you own.
  • Complete an online transfer from your linked external account, which is an account you own at another US financial institution that you have set up with us to use for external transfers.
  • Set up preauthorized withdrawals.

 

 

How can I deposit money into my Popular Direct savings account?

There are multiple ways to make deposits to your Popular Direct savings account:

  • Complete an online transfer from an eligible Popular Direct account you own.
  • Complete an online transfer from your linked external account, which is an account you own at another US financial institution that you have set up with us to use for external transfers.
  • Deposit a check with Popular Mobile Check Deposit using your mobile device Disclosure .
  • Set up Direct Deposit.

 

Savings account withdrawals are limited to six per calendar month. However, you are free to make unlimited deposits into your online account from your linked account.

Are Popular Direct accounts FDIC insured?

All deposit products offered through Popular Direct will be opened through Banco Popular North America (BPNA), an FDIC-member institution and a New York state chartered bank insured by the FDIC. Processing services are provided by BPNA. All deposits with BPNA are insured for the maximum amount allowed by law, and all balances on deposit with BPNA (whether directly or through Popular Direct) would be combined for purposes of determining FDIC coverage eligibility. Beginning January 1, 2013, all of a depositor's accounts at an insured depository institution, including all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts, will be insured by the FDIC up to the standard maximum deposit insurance amount ($250,000), for each deposit insurance ownership category. How do I enroll in External Transfers?

Log into Popular Direct Online Banking and select “External Transfers” in the “Pay and Transfer” tab on the top of the page. You will then be prompted to provide information about your External Account, which you must have withdrawal rights for. External Accounts may only be checking, savings or money market accounts and must be located in the United States with a valid ABA routing number.

You cannot change your External Account during the first 60 calendar days after opening your Popular Direct account. To change your External Account, you may call our Customer Care Center at 1-800-274-5696 after the 60 calendar day wait period to have your External Account deleted, at which point you may enroll a new account through Popular Direct Online Banking. Each time you change your External Account, you may not change it for 60 calendar days.

 

Digital Banking FAQs

How do I enroll in Online Banking and Mobile Banking? 

To register in digital banking services, follow the prompts on the enrollment screen. You will need to provide your account information and accept the terms of use to enroll. Your Popular Direct Online Banking user ID and password are the same for Popular Direct Mobile Banking. 

 

How do I enroll in E-Statements?

Enrolling in E-Statements is easy. Simply log on to populardirect.com and click on “Accounts.” Then go to the “Online documents” option. Click “Submit” after reading and agreeing to the terms and conditions, and you’re done. (It may take up to 30 days to stop receiving paper statements.)  Watch our enrollment video for more details.

 

What if I want to go back to paper statements?

You can change your preferences at any time by clicking “Change your document delivery method.” 

 

Can I view past statements?

You have access to up to five years of past statements, provided those past statements were delivered electronically. You will not have access to past paper statements. To view your electronic statement history, click “All statements.”

  

What security measures are in place for Popular Direct Online and Mobile Banking?

Popular Direct Online and Mobile Banking services utilize best practices such as HTTPS, 128-bit SSL encryption, password access and application time-out, where applicable. In addition, no account information is stored on your computer or phone. In the event your device or log in credentials are lost or stolen, the service can be immediately disabled by calling us at 1-800-274-5696. 

 

Is there a fee to use Popular Direct Online and Mobile Banking? 

We do not charge a fee for these services, however your standard mobile carrier’s data fees apply for mobile banking and text message fees apply for text alerts and text banking.
